TaskBlue or Kidslox? A comparison for parents

If you want to lock your child's phone remotely, trade screen time for finished chores and see where they are, Kidslox fits better. If you want the distracting apps on your child's iPhone to disappear on their own at set times or places, without reading along, TaskBlue fits.

What is Kidslox?

Kidslox is a parental control app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Parents manage it in the Kidslox app or in a browser, and the app also runs on every child device. On the iPhone, Kidslox uses a device management (MDM) profile and blocks popular games and social networks by cutting off their internet access.

Where Kidslox is strong

  • Switch between parent, child and lockdown mode with one tap, remotely and across iPhone and Android.
  • Your child can ask for more time or earn screen time by finishing chores.
  • Location with a 7-day history, alerts for set zones and an SOS button.
  • Web filtering against gambling, violence and adult content, or the whole internet off if you like.

Frequently asked

How does Kidslox block apps on the iPhone?

Kidslox installs a device management profile on the iPhone. Through it, it cuts off internet access for a selection of popular games and social networks and can lock the whole device. If a school or work profile is already installed, Kidslox says it cannot be added.

How does TaskBlue block apps?

TaskBlue uses Apple's Screen Time technology. The apps you choose disappear from the Home Screen during focus, and categories and websites show Apple's block screen. TaskBlue needs no device management profile.

Can my child ask TaskBlue for more time?

There are no requests to parents. Focus ends early with the BlueTag or your 6-digit parent PIN. If you haven't set a PIN, your child has three emergency exits for real emergencies.
