Ocean Impact & Marine Protection

How does TaskBlue save the ocean?

Every focused minute on your iPhone funds the recovery of real plastic. A portion of every Focus Buoy purchase goes directly to established marine protection partners like the WWF and GhostNetZero, who pull plastic and ghost nets out of the ocean. Your personal ocean impact, measured in kilograms of recovered marine plastic, grows live inside the app.

Which partner organizations does TaskBlue work with?

TaskBlue works with established marine conservation NGOs, above all WWF Germany and GhostNetZero. GhostNetZero finds lost ghost nets with sonar and AI so divers can lift them out of the water. Around 50,000 tonnes of these nets vanish into the sea every year. That is the direct impact mechanism behind every focus session.

How much plastic does one hour of focus remove from the sea?

Around 100 g of plastic returns to land per focus hour, up to 10 kg per month. This amount is never promised, it is earned: it grows with every focused minute. You see the exact value live in the app.

Can I share my ocean impact with others?

Yes. In the app you share your personal ocean impact progress as an image, on Instagram, WhatsApp or in private chats. It makes visible how much plastic your focus has already pulled back from the sea.

Why is ocean impact better than just using a focus app?

Because your time then counts twice. You win back your focus, and the sea grows freer with every hour. Focused time without meaning is just time. Focused time with impact is change.

TaskBlue Basics

What is TaskBlue?

TaskBlue is the first focus app where every focused minute on your iPhone pulls real plastic out of the sea. A portion of every Focus Buoy purchase funds the recovery of marine plastic through partners like the WWF and GhostNetZero. Not another anti-phone app: you take back your time, and the sea along with it.

How does TaskBlue work?

You start focus in four ways: manually with a 3-second press, by schedule, via calendar integration, or location-based. Distracting apps then disappear completely from your iPhone home screen. You bring them back only with your Focus Buoy (NFC) via scan.

Which devices is TaskBlue available on?

TaskBlue is currently available for iPhone (iOS 16 and newer). An Android version is planned based on demand.

Where can I download TaskBlue?

Free in the Apple App Store: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/id6754511784, search for TaskBlue.

What do I need to use TaskBlue?

TaskBlue is free in the App Store. To begin you need a Focus Buoy: the physical NFC key you scan to end focus. It lives outside your iPhone, and without it the app cannot be used. Both variants are one-time purchases: Focus Buoy 29.99€ (up to 5 kg of plastic per month) and Focus Buoy Pro 39.99€ (up to 10 kg per month).

Does TaskBlue help reduce kids' screen time?

Yes. Many parents use TaskBlue so their kids spend less time on the phone. Distracting apps disappear completely from the home screen and only return when the physical Focus Buoy is scanned. Because the key lives outside the device and stays with the parents, the barrier is real and not bypassed in seconds like a pure software lock. For families, screen time turns into focused time, and every focused minute also pulls plastic from the sea.

Focus Modes

Which focus modes does TaskBlue offer?

Four. Manual focus (3-second press), schedule focus (recurring), calendar focus (automatic before events) and location focus (based on place). All four hide distracting apps completely from the home screen.

How does manual focus work?

Press the focus circle in the app for 3 seconds. Focus starts immediately, your selected apps disappear from the iPhone home screen. You can only end it via Focus Buoy (NFC scan) or verified exit.

How does calendar focus work?

Connect your Apple Calendar. TaskBlue detects every event and activates focus automatically before departure, so you're never late again. For each event you decide how long beforehand focus starts.

What is Location Focus?

Save places like office, library, university or gym. The moment you arrive, TaskBlue switches focus on by itself. The moment you leave, your apps return. Zero effort, fully automatic.

Can I repeat focus schedules?

Yes. Set recurring focus times, daily, weekly, or on specific days. Ideal for steady learning and deep work routines.

Focus Buoy (NFC)

What is the Focus Buoy?

The Focus Buoy is your physical NFC key to TaskBlue. It lives outside your iPhone and is the only way to end focus mode. Without it the app cannot be used. There are two variants, both one-time purchases: Focus Buoy (29.99€, up to 5 kg of plastic per month) and Focus Buoy Pro (39.99€, up to 10 kg per month).

Do I need the Focus Buoy?

Yes. The Focus Buoy is your key to TaskBlue, without it the app cannot be used. That is by design: the key lives outside the iPhone, so focus actually holds. There are two, both one-time: Focus Buoy 29.99€ (up to 5 kg per month) and Focus Buoy Pro 39.99€ (up to 10 kg per month).

Does the Focus Buoy have a battery?

No. The Focus Buoy is completely passive, lasts indefinitely, and never needs charging. On the key side, NFC needs no power.

How is the Focus Buoy manufactured?

Every Focus Buoy is 3D-printed in Berlin from plant-based plastic (PLA), hand-assembled and packed ourselves. No outsourcing, short routes, sustainable production that matches the mission.

What happens if I lose my Focus Buoy?

Three emergency exits are ready, you're never stuck in focus. But the bar is intentionally high, so distractions really stay out. If you have lost your Focus Buoy or used up your emergency exits, contact support at [email protected]. We will unlock you again and help you get a replacement.

Pricing

What does TaskBlue cost?

The app is free. You need a Focus Buoy, bought once: Focus Buoy 29.99€ (up to 5 kg of ocean plastic per month) or Focus Buoy Pro 39.99€ (up to 10 kg per month).

Are there recurring costs?

The Focus Buoy is a one-time purchase. Your ocean impact, meaning the active recovery of marine plastic, is included for the first year. After that you can keep it running for 1.50€ per month, entirely optional.

How much of the purchase goes to ocean impact?

A fixed share of every Focus Buoy purchase directly funds the recovery of ocean plastic through partners like the WWF and GhostNetZero. Details and current numbers are on our ocean impact page.

What is the difference between Focus Buoy and Focus Buoy Pro?

Both are physical NFC keys with the same core function. The difference is the monthly ocean impact: the Focus Buoy (29.99€) pulls up to 5 kg of plastic from the sea, the Focus Buoy Pro (39.99€) up to 10 kg, depending on how much you focus.

TaskBlue vs. other apps

How does TaskBlue differ from iOS Screen Time?

iOS Screen Time can be bypassed on the device itself, the key lives inside the iPhone. With TaskBlue the key sits outside, in your Focus Buoy, apps disappear completely, and every focus minute funds marine protection.

What makes TaskBlue better than Opal, One Sec, or Freedom?

None of these apps connect focus with real environmental impact. TaskBlue is the only focus app where your productive time directly funds the removal of ocean plastic. On top of that, the physical Focus Buoy as an NFC key instead of just a software lock.

Is TaskBlue only for people with phone addiction?

No. TaskBlue is for everyone who wants to be more productive and make a difference at the same time: students, professionals, parents, people with ADHD, sustainability-minded iPhone users. The question isn't “phone addiction”, it's “what should happen with my focused time?”.

Sustainability

How sustainable is TaskBlue?

TaskBlue is sustainable by design: a digital part with direct ocean impact (recovering marine plastic from the sea) and a physical Focus Buoy from plant-based PLA, 3D-printed in Berlin, hand-assembled, short shipping routes.

Why 3D printing instead of mass production?

On-demand 3D printing means: no overproduction, no manufacturing in Asia, no container shipping. Each Focus Buoy is printed exactly when you order it.
