TaskBlue or Net Nanny? A comparison for parents
Net Nanny is first and foremost a web filter with an overview for parents: it blocks content in 14 categories and shows you your child's searches, websites and YouTube videos. TaskBlue doesn't filter content. It locks distracting apps when your child needs to concentrate, and shows you nothing from their phone.

What is Net Nanny?
Net Nanny is a US parental control service for phones, tablets and computers. The web filter is at its heart: for each of 14 categories you decide whether it is blocked, reported or allowed. On top come a daily limit for time online, schedules, app blocking, location and a family feed with real-time alerts. On the iPhone, the child app checks internet traffic through a VPN.
Where Net Nanny is strong
- A fine-grained web filter: 14 categories, each blocked, reported or allowed
- A family feed with real-time alerts and a view of searches and YouTube
- A parent dashboard in the browser and parent apps for iOS and Android

When Net Nanny is the better fit
What matters most to you is the content your child sees online, and you want to keep an eye on searches, websites and videos on phone and computer.
When TaskBlue is the better fit
Your child needs to focus on one thing, and you want distracting apps locked at set times without reading along with their searches and pages.
Frequently asked
How much does Net Nanny cost?
In the German App Store, the Family Pass for 5 devices costs €89.99 a year. We couldn't verify current US dollar prices, because netnanny.com redirected us to its German site.
Does TaskBlue filter websites too?
TaskBlue locks the websites you pick in Apple's selection and, if you like, platforms such as YouTube, Instagram or TikTok in Safari. It has no filter that recognises pages by topic, such as violence or pornography. That's what Net Nanny is built for.
Do I need a parent app for TaskBlue?
No. You set TaskBlue up right on your child's iPhone and protect the settings with a 6-digit parent PIN. You don't need an iPhone of your own.
